LSA 7: Describe Backups

Backups involve creating copies of data to protect against data loss. Backups can be full, incremental, or differential. They are critical for data recovery in case of hardware failure, data corruption, or other issues.

Backup Types

Full: Used to backup an entire/complete system by selecting the entire volume. It involves copying the entire data set of the system to a separate partition or an external disk. It creates a complete copy of the specified data volume.

Incremental: Used to copy only the data that has changed since the last (either full or incremental) backup.

Differential: Used to copy changes since the last full backup, but they don’t rely on a previous differential backup.
